Terms of use and sale

These terms form a binding agreement between you and the publisher of FrenchExaminer (see the legal notice). By using frenchexaminer.com you accept them.
1. The service
FrenchExaminer helps you prepare for French language exams used for immigration (TCF Canada, TEF Canada, and later the France versions). It offers an instant level test, speaking simulations with an automated examiner, writing corrections, reports, articles and tools. Levels, scores and corrections are produced by software, including artificial-intelligence models and a speech-recognition engine. They are estimates for training purposes, not official results, and they can be wrong.
2. Who can use it
You must be at least 16 years old. If you create an account, you are responsible for keeping access to your e-mail address secure, since we sign you in through it.
3. Free use and passes
Part of the service is free within daily quotas. Full access is sold as passes of 15, 30 or 60 days, paid once, with no automatic renewal. A pass starts when the payment is confirmed and ends at the end of its last day. Fair-use limits apply (currently 5 speaking simulations and 15 writing corrections per day); they are shown on the pricing page and may be adjusted to keep the service available to everyone.
4. Payments and refunds
Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see your card number. Prices are shown in US dollars; your bank may apply a conversion. Sales are final: we do not refund passes, except where the law of your country gives you a mandatory right of withdrawal or refund (for instance consumers in the European Union keep their statutory rights). 5. No guarantee of results
We do not promise that you will reach a given level or pass an exam. We give you an honest measure and precise corrections. Your result depends on your work.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to: copy, scrape or redistribute our prompts, corrections or audio; share one account between several people; try to overload, probe or circumvent the service, its quotas or its security; upload content that is unlawful or that belongs to someone else; use the service to cheat during an official exam.
7. Your content
Texts and recordings you submit stay yours. You grant us the right to process them to deliver the service (transcription, assessment, storage in your account) and, only if you tick the corresponding option, to use anonymised copies to improve the assessment. See the privacy policy.
8. Availability and changes
We aim for continuous availability but do not guarantee it. We may change, suspend or stop features. If a paid feature becomes unavailable for more than 72 consecutive hours during your pass, we extend your pass by the same duration.
9. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for decisions you take based on an estimated level, nor for the outcome of any official exam or immigration procedure.
10. Termination
You can delete your account at any time from your account page. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms. In that case no refund is due for the remaining days of a pass.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the current version. Material changes are announced on the site or by e-mail before they apply.
